We’re excited to be launching two brand new organic wines from Rioja, Spain!
Both of the new wines come from the Bodegas Las Cepas winery, an organic family winery in the region, and are available for instant delivery now for only ¥145.
The Las Cepas Rioja red is a powerfully aromatic organic wine with intense aromas of wild blueberries. Bright on the palate with a long finish, firm tannins and great structure, it has earned a rating of 92 from eminent wine critic James Suckling. It is aged in French oak for 6 months. That’s a Rioja tradition that goes back to the 1700’s and the religious pilgrimage paths between Rioja and Bordeaux, France.
Their white Rioja meanwhile is also a 100% organic wine, made with Maturana grapes, one of the six indigenous white varieties from the region. It is also aged in French oak barrels, giving it the rich fruit flavors that make Rioja wines so well-loved. And, like it’s red relative, it also got a high rating of 92 from James Suckling (as well as high ratings from heavyweight regional critics like Guia Peñin.
Rioja is one of Spain’s most famous wine regions for a reason. Its unique soil makeup produces reds that are richer, low in acidity and rounded with fruit flavors. The conditions for growing grapes are ideal for winemaking
Bodegas Las Cepas has been a family of winemakers for generations. Since 1996, they have been dedicated to organic farming in the Spanish wine heartlands of Rioja. Their grapes are grown organically and the vineyards are surrounded by farms and biodiversity. This contributes a kind of natural pest control: no pesticides. Manure is used to fertilize the soil 100% naturally. The weather conditions in the area, with very little rainfall, make the region ideal for organic winemaking.
